I do a lot of hauling and landscaping and I can't afford to give up any bed space.

This is a great option. Being that it can easily be remove if you need the extra room. Need extra room??? Take it off and put it in the back seat or on the side of your quad while everything stays inside and in place. Once your done using your bed. Just throw that saddle bag back on and you keep all the misc stuff organized.
A bit pricey. But looks clean..

Mine has a leer hard cover and a spray in liner so my stuff doesn't slide around. The hard cover works wee with the deep bed on the fords. Only disadvantage is having to crawl in to get something from the front....but with a short bed, it isn't exactly a long crawl!

There is also a 12'' wide toolbox at Lowe's that holds a lot without taking up much space.

I have a A R E cover and have a box with tools a shovel and another box with bungees ect. I use one of those gates that fit in the bed. This works great for me and if neede it is not hard to empty the bed.

Two draw bars stored with the jack.

Tools and such at end of the bed, first attempt.

This is how it is currently, held in place by two cargo bars.
I plan to get a 2009+ folding cargo extender to replace the cargo bars.
Two tool boxs and two containers for misc items.
Basically four items to be remove if needed.

Well this is one of the useful threads I've seen at this place. Definitely an interesting one as I have more stuff than truck.

Let me preface this by saying I used to have a crew cab F350 with an 8' bed. I had storage behind the rear seat, a 30" Weatherguard cross bed box (the biggest they make), and two small toolboxes that stood between the wheel wells and the tailgate. The small boxes had 4 drawers each. They took up too much room though.

Currently have a home made "box" that sits under 2/3rds of the back seat. I made it out of wood. Cut the curve in the bottom of it to match the hump of the floor, matched the angle of the bottom of the seat. Stapled black vinyl on the bottom, made a hinged lid for it. Painted the whole thing black. Took a few hours, but beat the heck of out of $180 for one of those factory jobs. It stores a plastic container full of fuses, large binoculars with case. Socket set, power tool battery charger, and two 18V batteries. Has a little room to spare.

Have a 20" crossover box behind the cab. I have a 6.5' bed mind you. Inside this box I have made a new tray from 3/8" plywood. This was to have taller dividers for the partitions in the tray, and also to raise the bottom of the tray. I needed the tray raised because in the floor of the toolbox I have a pair of 3 drawer tool chests. I took the pin out of the piano hinge to remove the top of the chest. This essentially gives me two four drawer toolboxes inside the crossover box. There's about a 18" x 20" hole between the toolboxes where I build some partitions to hold a bottle jack, 20' 3/8" chain, 20' of heavy duty jumper cables, two ropes, and a small sledge hammer. A double blade axe and crowbar fit sideways in the box. Tool belts and tool kits sit in front of the tool chests. Small stuff and a receiver hitch and jack handles fit in trays on the side of the crossover box.

I would like some more storage. I have looked at those rear swing out boxes. I don't appreciate the price nor the loss of a tie down point, but it would be good for the loose things. Chain, cables, straps, ropes, etc. I also have an eye on those toolboxes that fit along the bed rails. The main thing I don't like about them is the stupid leg that sits down in the bed. Seems they would get the in way of everything. If I do it, I'll make a bracket that bolts to the side of the bed post, and another that bolts to the bottom of the crossover box. This would take up about 18" of the top of the bed space though. And I think I may only do them one box at a time and it might look dumb to just have one box, and I don't know which side I would put it on.

Hope to see lots of other posters in this thread.

-Draw string bag under the passenger seat holds a couple tools for me. It's -tucked up enough it doesn't get in the way.

- Took the jack out and put my jumper cables in a bag there, along with a spare jacket for when the girlfriend gets cold

-Umbrellas in the doors

-Work gloves in a door

- Pen, paper, camera, contact info, first aid kit and other important stuff in a pencil pouch thing in the glove box

That's a majority of my stuff that is in the truck. Whenever I know I won't be using the bed much I have a big rubber chest kind of thing I tie down to the back of it to sort of work as a tool box for me to throw more stuff in.

I just got this for Christmas and already installed it, it's perfect. It says its for the supercab, not sure why it wouldn't work in a supercrew.

The jack spot is an awesome storage place for jumpers! Got mine in there too
