I've always have had good luck with just running it normal and doing a couple early oil changes in case of small shavings. New car engines don't 'need' break in, but at the same time, dont abuse it. lol

on the other hand is, some people will say to drive the **** out of it...so each person will have an opinion

Just as an update I heard back from my warranty company. They are giving me a brand new re-manufactured engine (so it doesn't have the same problem again). However they are not buying a motorcraft (ford) built engine, but rather one built by a company in the states...my guy didn't say which one...but it changed the cost from $6500 to $3700 for the same parts. I have no problem with that as it comes with a 120000km 3yr warranty. Going to take 3-5 days to get here, then install time.

In the mean time I rented myself a Brand new F250 regular cab long box from uhaul...also on the warranty companies dime.

All in all I feel like I've been treated really well by everyone involved. Both ford and the warranty company have caused me no hassle at all. While it is unfortunate there was damage to begin with I'm happy with how it was handled.

Excited to hear my truck with its new powerplant....I always hated how loud and clacky my truck was.

I've always been a believer in moderate driving with no severe acceleration for the first 600 miles and then do an oil and filter change. Then she's broke in and you can drive normally.

So I got my truck back today.

$3500 0 hour re-manufactured engine out of the states
$2367 in labour
$835 in additional parts, fluids etc,
$334 for a rental truck
Total ~$7036

All I paid was $56.00 for the warranty deductible. Seems like that worked out just fine for me. I get a new 3 year/120,000km warranty on the new engine.

She purrs like a kitten instead of sounding like a diesel too.

Good to hear your warrantee paid off in spades..

Break in..
Just don't drive at a steady rpm or let the engine idle too long for the first 500 miles..keep the Rpm's varied.. After that go nuts..
The rings seat within an hour of run time if not instantly.
If anything I'd worry more about the oil change intervals, and be prepared with fresh oil and filters..
Change the oil at these Milages:
100
500
1000
3000
5000

The reman engines that are churned out by AER are built very well, with all the updates and revisions accounted for. If you got your reman from Ford, than it is an AER engine.. I've got one that I installed in my truck back in December that's been supercharged since the first fire..

I'd say for whatever oil you run with these 5.4 3v engines, don't let the oil change intervals get passed 5-7k miles, regardless of what the bottle of oil says it can do..

You scored on that warranty. The whole truck isn't worth much more than that!! Well done.
