Default How do i get burnt on brake dust off?

Ok do I let my rear pads get WAY too low and now I have caked on metal dust on my factory wheels. If I get it wet and scrub on it with a towel, I can get some of it off. What is the best thing out there to use on this stuff? Can I use some sort of brittle brush on them without damaging the clear coat? Is there a magic solution I can use on them?

I use simple green and a rag. If its burned into the clear there isnt anything that will get it off without taking the clear coat with it.

That will most definitely take the clear coat off the wheels.

Magic Erasers from Mr. Clean do a good job, buddy of mine uses them. They make a special one just for wheels in the auto Dept.

Eagle one A-Z wheel cleaner, been using it on my rims for years and they come out squeaky clean. It hasn't damaged my rims in any way whatsoever.
