How to: Clear engine codes?
Can't find the procedure with a search. I pulled out my Edge and I have an old check engine light. I disconnected the battery and stepped on the brake pedal. When I started it it the check light was still there and the truck would not go in to gear, nor would the gas pedal work (it physically moved but no rise in rpm). I get really worried as it' not possible to push. I restart about a dozen times in park, neutral, let it warm up and finally it works but I still have a check engine light.
How can I reset the computer and clear all the previous codes?

Try leaving the battery ground cable disconnected for about 5 minutes. If that doesn't do it, then you may have an actual fault that continues to trigger the fault code being set.
Take it to an auto parts store and have them read the code with a scanner. Most "better" auto parts stores will do this free of charge. Some will even clear it with their scanner, but it may not clear if you have an actual fault that needs attention/repair.

It should be an old code as after I replaced the broken headers the codes on the Edge cleared. I will try:
Turn key to ON psition
disconnect ground battery cable
wait 15 min
I didn't bring a wrench, so may have to wait untill tonight.
thanks guys

^ yes, they can read codes but there were no codes with the Edge and it's at PHP getting upgraded/converted to a Gryphon.
Ok, just tried it and it worked. No more legacy engine code and the truck runs better. Thanks again!
