Auburn Gear all the way. I have an Auburn Auto-Cross for my 2wd 8.8. Its awesome. full locker, under $400. Have had it on for 35K+ and no problems whatsoever. Was an easy install too, didnt require reshimming at ALL! The one pictured is the Auburn ECTED.

Let me try and recall my steps of so long ago...
bout 30 min to get oil drained, truck on stands, tires off, and axles slid out.
Then I went to a buddy's (he lived in the same apt complex, but he had better garage tools than me) and what we did was put the new locker in the freezer. We then proceeded to remove the OEM Ring from the OEM Diff. After it was off, we boiled it in his 5gal pot over a burner. We froze the new locker because cold makes metal shrink. We boiled the ring for the opposite effect; heat makes metal expand. By doing both of these, the ring slid on w/out me even having to take a rubber mallet to it. This was prolly another 30 min.
Then reinstall, check slack (i was good so I didnt need to reshim, just put back together). I would have to say when I factor in me and my buddy bs-ing, and throwin back a few while we "cooked" everything, total of 2 hrs. Long in time, but CAKE of all the other installs I have done. Hell, my strut replacement was longer and harder (thats what she said).
