Default How big of a boat can i tow?

We have a crew cab 2wd with the 5.4. How big/heavy of a boat can we tow? What about a car trailer with a 69 camaro?

Can search online for tow capacities.

My crewcab 6.5' box 4x4 and 5.4l can tow 8200lbs iirc.

You gain a good bit of towing ability being 2wd.

My 07 2wd with tow package and a 5.4 is rated at 8300lbs. I tow a 28 foot pontoon or a 21 Aerolite camper with ease.

I tow a 28 center console for short distances. It weighs about 8500lbs and towed a vette for about 1000 miles non-stop. The 5.4 has enough power to pull the boat out of the ramp. My tranny died at 125k don't know how much if at all the towing contributed to its demise. What it cannot do on its own is stop when towing the boat. You will need a trailer with brakes if towing above 4k.

Looking at the Aerolite trailers now, specifically a 213RBSL, and that shouldn't even make my 4x4 with 3.55 gears flinch. I will likely regear before getting the trailer though. I do have 35s and want to keep my tranny in 1 piece...

FWIW, to the OP, if your truck didn't have the towing package from the factory, you will want to add the bigger trans cooler, 7 pin harness, and add a trailer brake controller and harness. Upgrading brakes is a good idea too.

On the how big of a boat issue. It all depends on the weight. I have seen some 30' fishing boats that weight wise my old Ranger could have easily handled, and some 21' cabin cruisers my F150 would struggle with. The fishing boats of coarse being all aluminum construction, the cruiser being wood and fiberglass with LOTS of extra crap just weigh too much. Guess which boat drafts deeper?
