You don't know whether your truck is a 4x4?
Manual
Depends whether you have manual shift or a ****. Manual shows both options.

Does the light come on? They don't make dashes with and withou 4WD lights. All the lights are in the dash, just not all of them are connected if you don't have that option.

2 easy ways to tell you either have a 4x4 switch next to the steering wheel on the right side or a floor shifter, if that doesn't help look under the truck for cv axles in the front if you have them then you have 4wd. As for 4 lo put it in neutral foot on brake shift to 4lo put the truck in drive, 2nd or 1st gear then you'll be in 4lo.

I had a 93 f150 that had the spot in the instrument panel with the bulb and everything behind it but definitely didn't have 4wd got stuck enough to prove it the factory just turns out the same dash and everything for the same trucks will just leave out what they don't need or what was optional like 4wd

As been said, you can use 4x4 high anytime on the fly or stopped. To get in 4x4 Low you have to be stopped, and put it in neutral. Then you'll hear a audible thunk in from under the truck and you're good to go. Have your foot on the brake and pressed firmly though. It'll lurch pretty good when you shift back to drive.
