so the concensus here and after talking to a few mechanics... I am doing this tomorrow. One mechanic I talked to said " I hate and have NO faith in "fixes in a bottle" except this stuff." He ran this in his buddie's wife's Expedition with the 5.4 in it and before the next oil change they noticed a much quieter idle, significantly less injector ticking and dramatically increased throttle response. he said nothing about improved gas mileage but I dont really care about that. I will keep posting my finding after i get some miles on mine after the change.

Thanks all for chiming in

Considering the injectors are directly actuated electric units, I don't see how an oil additive is going to do anything to make them quiet. The Ford diesels use a HEUI style injector that is driven by oil pressure.

This is exactly what I meant. I did a simple Google search, and realize what it's supposed to do. I just don't understand why it would help out a gas engine. I'm not saying don't do it, it's your truck, try it if you like.

thats right. I talked with a tech from hot shots and he explained in a gas engine it would simply clear out any burnt oil deposits or "stiction". Basically an internal engine cleansing...

So did he say to use it in every oil change in the new oil, several hundred miles before an oil change or when?

first oil change you use 1 quart of HSS for every 8 quarts per engine capacity. so i used a bit under 1 quart since our trucks use 7 quarts of oil. after initial treatment use .25 to .5 quarts of HSS for maintenance. the tech said after my initial treatment i'd probably be good only doing a couple more small treatments after.

I've got a little over 1500 miles on her since I added the HSS to the oil with the last oil change. Have noticed it idles smoother and seems to be simply running better. Havent tracked to see if I'm getting better mpgs but the engine definitely seems to be performing better. Noticing slightly better throttle response and smoother engine running. The tech at HSS said give it til 4-5k to "REALLY" notice things, so I will continue to update as time goes by.
