This sounds like a similar product, "Zmax" (also advertised/sponsored on Truck-U) to help clean out deposits around the valve backsides, and "penetrate" into the metal to provide better lubrication. Expensive, but I don't know much first hand experience about it.

I'm old enough to remember STP and Slick 50.

Wait, what are you trying to say there, bucko? Hmmm???

I remember when slick 50 came out, disappeared, came back again. STP was the cat's *** when it came to getting compression back in an engine that had gone a bit too long....like a 302 with rings that had shattered into 1-2" pieces. Got another 2 months out of that bastard before I had to tear it down and replace it, courtesy of STP.

One one hand, sadly, that doesn't work anymore...on the other hand, we don't normally have to deal with that anymore, either.

I used ZMax in my 88 Dodge D100 with the 318 and it went 275k with no engine issues. No clue ss if it helped or not.

Now I want to clarify, I'm not saying HHS is the "end all be all" for miracle fixes... BUT I have noticed that my motor is running/performing much quieted and smoother than before. I wasnt having any major issues with my truck but wanted to try this as a way to extend the life of my truck. After talking with the tech at HSS this seemed a good way to internally clean the "funk" from my motor with 112k on it. And as of now I have definitely noticed it idling smoother, running a bit quieter and definitely performing better. I will continue to make updates *** I got through to the 4k mark, as I will do another oil change adding half a quart to the next change. I was advised by the HSS tech to do 1 qt initially, half a quart for the next 2 oil changes.

What weight oil are you running? Did he say anything about that or what they recommend? When adding that 1 qt of hot shots wouldn't it replace a qt of oil so you don't overfill. Wouldn't this make the oil thinner or is this hot shots thicker then I am thinking?? Is it as thin as seafoam? I always wondered how people were putting a bottle or more of that in there oil.

It would replace a quart of "normal" oil for sure. Don't overfill.

I can provide this bit of information towards this HSS (Hotshots stiction); my son recently purchased a used 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 diesel with 145K on its engine. It was "fogging" at idle (diesel smoke). He found that these engines are prone to injector issues at around 80K, and was told his needed replacement. Not a hard job for this engine, but very time consuming. He tried this "HSS", and after about 200 miles of use, he said the fogging issue was gone.

This saved him about 3 grand to have the injectors replaced (if you have it done), so this stuff was worth it in this case.
