Default Horrible MPG.. 2005 F-150 4.2 V6

I'm confused.. My MPG is terrible.. Having the smaller of the engines for the F150, one would conclude you would have the best MPG right?? Wrong.. I average a little over 14 mpg. Is that normal? I just recently did a full tune up. Spark plugs, wires, air filter.. I even went as far as replacing the coil pack and switched to a full synthetic. All my efforts rendered useless. Now all I want to do is get rid of the damb thing. Am I missing something? Is there anything I can do to get a little more out of it?? It just kills me that there are V8s out there getting 20 plus on a gallon.. Any ideas?? Thank you...

The way you/we drive is what it is........the window sticker says 13/18mpg.
I've said it before on here, when I bought my truck the dash was reading 14.7mpg.
I took a long trip back in Nov. and my read out got as high as 17.9mpg but now I'm back on the home grid and it's reading 16.7mpg and I'm sure it will go lower.....it's a truck and it's doing what they said it will do.
I'm not saying you're in a hurry to get where you want to go but your gas mileage say different. It's a truck not a car , if you want better gas mileage...well buy a car.

When I bought the my truck, the sticker said 17/22.. I should have known better.. I love my truck but the answers I'm looking for is maybe there is something wrong with it for it to be running like this. I have a friend who has an F150 with a V8 and he gets anywhere from 16-18 mpg city.. Thats a V8.. This is a 4.2 V6.. A dinky motor :/ I'm thinking maybe the truck is under powered. I've had the O2 sensors checked recently, they were fine, had my MAF cleaned and I have OEM size tires and rims..
