Default hitch drop

I am going to be towing a camper this next week and I wanted to know how much drop I should have on the hitch. I have a 04 150 FX4. I have a hitch with a 2 inch drop. I think this should work?

Suggest to eyeball the height of the trailer hitch when the trailer is level. The truck hitch should be a bit higher than the trailer tongue, but likely no more than a couple of inches higher, to account for the tongue weight.

Can't go by hitch drop alone - depends on the trailer tongue height and the corresponding truck hitch height, along with truck suspension drop under load.

Should work, FX4s don't sit too high. Best thing to do when towing a trailer or camper for the first time is to bring tools to take the ball off. So if you need to flip over your 2" drop to raise the tongue you can. A lot of big truck stops sell hitches so if you have to stop along the way you can get your ball on the way you need. If it looks right when you hook up your probably ok, just remember campers can fool you because they are light but catch a lot of wind. Even a little pop up can mess with you in the wind.
