Why didn't you take the advice and check for the vacumn leak? Simple, free, and not expensive to replace a vacumn hose. Hope the dealer/repair center doesn't get you too bad on the diagnoses and labor charges.

I have an extended warranty and want to have a couple of other things looked at. So it shouldn't cost me anything.

It was a vacumn leak. That is the least of my problems now, I heard a rattling noise upon starting, I was just informed that I need a new engine. I am heated right now, I bought this f*cking truck a little over a month ago from a Ford Dealership.

They said the noise was coming from a cam shaft or something like that. WTF...

Sounds like the common cam phaser issue with the 5.4's...do a search on cam phasers, then read up.

Sorry to hear about this, but perhaps your extended warranty will cover it?

Well, was just told that Ford will cover the engine. It's still under their factory warranty. Anything I need to know about getting a rebuilt factory engine?

So it was rod knock, not cam phaser tap?

Not really sure, they said something about a camshaft. I'll find out more when they replace it.

Probably the cam phasers. Common issue.

Yeah your "new" engine is a rebuilt engine, not new.... When you get the chance make sure you ask them about what weight and type of oil they are going to use, and then ask why again after they give you an answer.... If they tell you their gonna use 5w-20 you should ask why did my first motor fail, and what could have prevented that.... I'd like to see what kinda answers you will come back with.... Thanks and good luck!
