Highway/city fuel economy help?

Instead of starting a new thread Im reviving a 7 yo thread yes... yadda yadda yadda...
In past 2 months Ive been driving my 93 5.0 auto 80 miles a day. One tank I run with tailgate down and one with it up. Having done this 8 times all I can come to is down on MY truck consistently gets 10-20 more miles to a tank than up.
Negligible YES
... down it looks like *** so Ill run with it up 99% of time anyway. Just my $0.02
