all this talk about not having a relay is freaking me out i have motorcycle hids in mine and there is no relay they kinda flicker when i turn them on and i dont want my truck to catch on fire ive had them on there for about 2 months.. whats the possiblity of a fire?

Depends on the amp draw of the HID's. Find out from the manufacturer, then compare against the fuse used in the stock light circuit. If the amp draw is higher than the amp fuse in the circuit, don't put a higher amp fuse in that circuit, use a relay with it's wiring.
The original post was showing that the relay that came with his kit has failed, and he was strongly suggested that he not "over ride" the relay (bypass it).

When you turn
on your headlight switch, it puts 12V across the relay coil which in
turn closes the contacts.* The contacts switch in 12V from the
battery to turn on the ballast, which in turn ignites and powers the
HID
bulb.

You get what you pay for. Cheap HIDs = cheap product, and of course poor customer service. Just buy a whole new kit since they are cheap. DO NOT use them without a relay, as others mentioned its a great way to start a fire.
