Hesitation, Sluggish, Bog-Down
I hope can describe this well enough...
My '04 5.4L just went in for all kinds of service- Plugs, Cam Phasers, Throttle Body Cleaning, Fly Wheel replacement, Starter replacement and ABS Module.
I get it back and from about 800-2000 RPM the truck feels like it's pulling something, bogging down, etc. I step in the gas and you can hear the engine trying to go but it won't...then about 2000+ RPM it runs like a champ. Took it into the dealership, they hooked up the computer and checked everything, including "MODE 6" and could NOT find anything. So they reprogrammed the PCM and cleaned the MAF...problem still there. I took it home because it was going to get expensive throwing parts at it until it fixes it.
Does anyone have any ideas what this might be??????????

I took mine in for a sluggish feeling. Everything was fine but one thing. The emergency brakes system malfunctioned and the brakes were rubbing on my rotor. It felt I was towing a 50,000 lb trailer. Have them check you e brakes out to make sure you don't have the same problem I do.

Mine does it too. It doesn't to it all the time though. I took it in to the dealership and had them scan it. No codes came up.
I've done the cam phasers, new throttle body, new MAF, reflash PCM and tune up. I'm going to go ahead and change the coils. Hopefully that will take care of it.

I had this same issue; couldn't even spin the tires, but lucky for me it kicked a P0420. Once the cat was replaced it was back to normal. Not sure how to test this other than maybe pulling the sensor out before the cat and see if any power is returned.

I had an aftermarket exhaust put on the guy cut off the two rear cats, it's been 3 years since that's been done...the only thing I think could be the culprit is the coils or cats. I had an exhaust leak on the header on the right side so it might have worn that right side cat out...I'll have the plug pulled and see if that helps anything..

Installed the coils today. Not to difficult. Passenger side was the worst of the two. Rear coil on driver side wasn't even pushed down all the way and the screw was about two turns from falling out. Anyway, I could tell a huge difference as soon as I started driving it. Response was night and day. Haven't driven enough to know if the original problem is still there but I will keep posting the more I drive it.
