Help w tires for 05 Lariat
I have over 60,000 miles on my stock Goodrich T/As and it's time to replace them.
My truck is a 05 F-150 Lariat w the 18" spoke wheels. I have always thought the 275/65/18's on it were a little small and I am hoping someone here can help me. Does anyone have a pic of their truck with the spoke wheels and a slightly larger tire?
Most of my driving is highway with the occasional off in the woods run whenever I am cutting firewood on my land. Any suggestions are welcome.
TIA

Look at the Goodyear DuraTracks. I love mine, they are about as aggressive as you can get as an AT tire but still handle well and dont make too much noidse on the highway. My driving style is similar to yours from highway to a little dirt and gravel.

Can anyone tell me the difference between a lift kit and a leveling kit?
I swear I have looked (a little)
I believe my 05 4X4 Lariat has a 2" stock lift kit on it...correct me if I am wrong.

If your truck is stock the front end of the truck will sit lower than the rear. A leveling kit raises the front end to level it out with the rear. This also gives you the ability to run larger tires.
EDIT: the easiest way to to determain this it to take a tape measure and measure from the top of your tire to the top of the wheel wale on the front then on the rear. if they are the same or close you have aleveling kit if the front sits 2-3 inches lower then you dont have a leveling kit.

Thanks for the info, the little light bulb went on. I kind of like my nose down attitude so I am not going with a leveling kit. I think I can run
275/65R18's with my stock config, that's a little taller and I don't really need to be any wider. Now to pick a brand...

I picked up a set of stock sized Firestone Destination A/T's a few months ago and I have no complaints at all. My dad had them on his old truck and said he loved them so I figured I'd give them a shot. They aren't noisy, and I have yet to get stuck with them. I drive on streets, highways, trails, in mud, sand, snow, ice, pretty much all conditions and I think they are awesome. Of course when I say mud i dont mean I'm mud bogging or anything, but my truck does see some sticky mud from time to time and I have always made it through

I'm in the market as well and looking to do roughly the same thing as you. I think that I am leaning towards the Nittos. They look like they will get the job done. I want something similar to a Cooper Discover M/S. I always had good luck with them. I was thinking maybe Cooper ST's?

My truck has 275/70R18s stock, so you should be able to fit those with absolutely no rubbing. Per the sticky here, you can run a 33x12.50R18 if you'd like with no lift /level.
A leveling kit is just a small lift kit. Levels are available in front lifts of 2, 2.5, and 3 inches and are spacers that install above your struts in around 2 hours. You can add a block or add a leaf to get a little rear altitude to retain your factory rake. The sticky here (and most members) say you can run a 35x12.50 all terrain on stock rims with a level.

If you don't like the front end down - raked - look on your stock 4x4 one answer is to simply remove the 2" blocks from the rear. I did that to my 06 Lariat andmuch prefer the stance that is more "leveled" and cost nothing. In fact, I made money when I sold the 2" blocks.
My driving is similar to the OP and I just mounted a set of Hankook RH06s and love them so far.
and they're very reasonably priced - my set of 20s was $440 out the door!
