Default Help! Strange Front-end Noise

Has anyone experienced this problem? I have a 2007 F-150 Screw, occasionally I hear a strange noise from the front-end. It almost sounds like a vaccum is releasing pressure, sort of a "pissing" sound. It is very noticable especially with the windows down. It's loud and sometimes can last for several seconds, then it stops. It has occurred during any driving conditions. I can't figure out what causes it, it almost seems to be a random event. The dealer has been no help so far.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

it definately is a vacuum noise. Instead of conventional hubs they use what is called a vacuum actuator (3c247). As well there has been a common problem with the vacuum tube that runs from the regulator on the fender apron down to the actuators (3a785). I work the shop counter for ford and have changed many of both.

Thanks pecahead. I told the dealer what you said and it turns out that was exactly the problem. I just got the truck back, all fixed up. No thanks to their investigation of the problem

Don't you just love doing the job yourself for your dealer. I asked the dealer if I would be getting a discount for my services, they just laughed a bit.

If I am running my 04 5.4L and I stand in front of it, I hear a hissing as well. Is that just the AC compressor or am I way off?

These trucks have lots of funny noises. I've heard the same thing in my 05 and have used the "ears" to pinpoint it to the a/c compressor.
I can't wait till it gets cold and everyone complains about a wicked whistle happening in the cab at times! I know EXACTLY what that is! lol
