Glad to hear you found the problem! Make sure you clean everything really well before putting the new bearings in. Clean everything with brake cleaner and dry with a clean rag. When installing the new bearing there is no such thing as too much grease! It's better to pack a bunch in there versus not enough. Massage the grease deep into the bearings and reassemble.

I replaced everything yesterday and the truck drives like brand new now, smooth ride and no more sound!

I didn't get it from the dealer, but a local parts supplier. They had to order it and it only took an hour for it to come in. I have no idea how they do things, but I'm happy they're around.

My truck is having the same symptoms, is there a write up at all or a how to On how to replace the iwe solenoid? How difficult is it? I'm just gonna go buy a Haynes but write ups from here are always more helpful

It's very easy... finding it was the hardest part. Follow the write up here. https://www.f150forum.com/f4/my-satu...ge-04-a-18608/

I took that cover off of the battery too. It made it easier to get to the solenoid. I didn't need to remove the battery.

Well I went ahead and installed the new revised solenoid and no dice...It still makes the grinding noise while in 2wd. When I switch it into 4H the noise isn't there, put it back into 2wd and the noise isn't there for maybe a mile and then it comes back. Next step guys??

In PNW EFFONEFIFTY's post on page 1,he says the next step is checking for a vacuum leak.
