Default more info

You can reuse valve gaskets and oil pan gaskets just make sure you rtv the joints of metal , You can feel and see the joints as you clean the surfaces . you will also need to seal the key way on the crankshaft when reinstalling timing cover with the same stuff .

Reseal crankshaft keyway??? Sorry- I don't follow. the keyway on the crankshaft engages the harmonic balancer and the balancer OD rides in the seal in the front cover. Can you elaborate?

Also- does anyone know if the cloyes kit comes wiht gaskets for the timing cover or do you have to order them seperately?

BTW- great video Hootsworth!!!! I wish i had seen it before!

ALSO- I changed my plan after reading a few other posts.

1- I orderd Cloyes 9-0391SX timing set as this set has all the same guides but the earlier steel tensioners which are not prone to seal blow-out and may have the secondary ratcheting adjustment lock to prevent pump down.

2- I ordered the Ford racing M-6600-D46 oil pump because it's cheaper listed as high volume- (not high pressure) like the melling. There was some concern that higher pump pressure could contribute to accelerated tensioner wear.

Default Yes the factory instuctions call for rtv on keyway

Even with a new crankshaft timng cover seal, oil can find its way thru the keyway and cause oil to leak . If you read factory install it covers that . Same as rtv on metal joints .

By the way i made my own crank pulley bolt remover out of flat bar and case hardened bolts on crank pulley . It also is used to torque the pulley bolt back on in a stepped process by factory .
