Default Help me PLEASE!!! Keeps running rough

Hello all Im new to F150 forum. I have a problem my truck started running rough a couple months back and I thought it was the transmission which was only the surface of the problem. I have had the transmission replaced along with all the COPs. The truck ran like brand new for two days after i changed the COPs then it went right back to running rough and now runs worse than it did before. I went to Autozone and had them hook up the computer and it said that cylider #6 was the problem so i replaced that one with a new COP and its still running like crap. If I open the throttle more than half way it begins to shutter and you hear a snapping noise almost like electric and smoke comes out the tail pipe but then if you let off the gas to under half throttle it runs fine, makes it really difficult to pull out into traffic, but as soon as you pass that halfway point it begins the shutter again. I almost feels like the truck has hiccups when trying to accelerate whether its from a dead stop or while already moving.

PLEASE HELP!! Im about to replace the valve cover with the built in PCV valve to see if that helps but if i dont have to spend the $150 for the cover Id rather not ive already sank a lot of money into this truck and my fiance' is about ready to put a bomd under it! The truck has 110000+ miles on it and just started falling apart.

slow down and take a step back!

Your just throwing money down the tubes by misdiagnosing things... (runs like crap so replace the transmission or add a PCV valve? NO NO NO!)

Get a new mechanic if thats what your being offered

Catalytic converters, o2 sensors, MAF cleaning, throttle body cleaning and new plugs is where you should be looking... EXACTLY WHAT CODE IS BEING THROWN will point you to what you should be looking at.

How does it idle? what rpm at idle, running on 7 cylinders? fuel injectors ?

I got $20 on its either MAF, injector, or plug...

Could it be a bad injector?

You can still pull pending codes from autozone even if you CEL has not lit up. Newer OBD2 pcm's will store codes until it adds up to 3 or more then throw the light.

the transmission did go out that why I replaced it but the problems started before the trans went out on me, and the replacing the pcv valve I was just going by some of the research that I've done from this site and other f150 forums out there. I did clean the MAF already still no change. The codes it keeps throwing out is P0174, P0306, and P0316 and the cylider its says is misfiring is #6 and says lean on bank two which I know thats the drivers side of the engine.

Go ahead and r&r your plugs...they're not made to last too long. From what I've researched, plugs average a 80k-120k life span. Or have they already Ben replaced/if so with what brand?

I replaced the plugs about three or four years back before i knew they didnt have to be changed like regular plugs and they used the OEM motorcraft plugs.

Lets go through the codes scientific method style...

Its NOTHING related to a system part heres why

0174 driver side bank
0316 - misfire detected at startup
0306 - lean condition #6

Whatever happening is limited to one cylinder #6.....

With common rail fuel systems and COP problems.... your having one cylinder simply not fire..... (while the others are operable)

#6 plug, #6 wire, #6 COP, #6 injector.....

Now lets go to the ones you JUST replaced...

Scratch off the List COP...

Spark wire failure is RARE... scratch off

Its your #6 spark plug, or #6 injector...

For $8-18 you can scratch off spark plug before you tackle the injector....

Remove and replace the plug.... but symptoms still to me sound like injector... (its running on 7 cylinders and when you get above 1800+ RPM's your getting the fuel detonating in the exhaust manifold from the #6)

Limit driving to prevent cylinder washout on #6 cylinder

Replace the plug (since its easy to get at and its not #8) and go from there...
