Definitely get a new mechanic. I would replace all the spark-plugs with Motorcraft, make sure all the cops are good. Definitely check out what everyone said above too.

That day, I noticed some misfires in my first and second gears and abnormal rubbing sounds, like maybe a belt or something. I take it to the shop, they scan and say cylinder 6 misfire, replace the plug with a platinum plug and then the corresponding coil. Now it sounds good like it used to. The next day, yesterday, im driving, and the engine cuts out, completely stalls. I start up and it runs for a bit fine. I notice a small tapping and low end noise from the engine. Im driving at about 30, stop at a light, and the engine cuts out again, and it says low oil pressure. I start it back up, and its fine, but now is cutting out frequently. I take it to the shop, they plug me in and we drive it around the block. at first it says cylinder 5 misfire, and then the graph is all over the charts. We pull back into the shop, and there is a much louder knocking coming from the drivers side low end of the engine. The mechanic says from what he see's the engine is toast. He says, "we usually throw these engines away at 100000 miles. They dont last long this happens to them, we've had alot of problems with this one and I think its done for." Can anyone please give me some advice? i was everything from, maybe changing just the one plug and coil is throwing all the rest out of timing? Or maybe fuel filter is clogged, bad fuel injectors? A thinner oil because it got really cold? or the cam phaser problem everybody is talking about? I have no clue, any incite would be greatly appreciated. I neeeeed this truck to be running because winters up here are brutal. I just bought the truck put only 15k miles on it since February, and owe a ****ton and this happens! Thanks everybody!
My truck has bad cam phasers and timing set. I'm Going The Engine Replacement route. And I was losing oil pressure I just threw lucus oil stabilizer in there and it hasn't stalled yet. Try that for a bit. And figure it out your plan. Research it and once ready go for it. Just don't take too much time so no serious damage is done.

Sounds like your guy just threw up his arms and decided to sell a new or rebuilt engine.
I agree! It actually wasn't my mechanic, he was away and it was one of his minions lol who I know for a fact is not a Ford fan. Im sure he was just bein a dick

Okay, another question, I have an extended warranty for the truck and the dealership is saying that it looks like my motor is going to be replaced. Do I have grounds to demand a new motor or must i settle for a rebuilt motor if thats what they tell me they are going to use? Anything I should be wary of while going thru this process? I am just worried about get bad cams or getting a rebuilt engine containing other partd such as cams or (? what else should i look for?) that werent rebuild and having problems with them in the future. My extended warranty only last 8000 more miles amd i dont want problems after it expires. Thanks!!

I'm in the same situation after calling dealerships about the remanufactured engines. (Cheaper than jasper) the parts guy at the multiple dealers I called said that everything inside the motor is new except for the block. So it has new upgraded timing chains, camphasers, spark plugs. Comes with new oil pan. Water pump, oil pump. Only other purchases you would have to do is some gaskets. They also take the intake and exhaust manifolds off old engine and put on new one. (I'm buying new exhaust manifolds to save from future headaches and maybe a new intake so that everything is new.) Engine also comes with a new flywheel. All for $5700 and they'll give you 800 back for the core. So it's really on $4900. Plus the new manifolds I'm buying and gaskets. Dealer I bought from is putting it in for $700. Hope this helps. Jasper quoted me at $6500 for engine with $1200 back for the old engine. Ford was cheaper. Best of luck
