Default Help!! Exhaust Rattle! Catalytic??

I have an 04 FX4 SCrew, and at low rpm there is a rattle from the underside. When I sit in drive with my foot on the brake, it rattles, however, when I sit in the same spot and shift to neutral, the rattle stops. Upon acceleration it rattles at low speeds but then quits. Or I can't hear it. Any insight??

Check for loose heat shields. Seems to be a common issue.

Okay I'll check the heat shields, thank you. I just called the dealership to get a rough quote on replacing the catalytic converters. And I was astounded!! The said 2200 for the left and 2300 for the right. I know catalytic converters are expensive but I didn't know they were that expensive!!??

If the cats need replaced I wouldn't go to the dealer. Go to your local exhaust shop and have them do it.

That's actually about right. I've got the same thing after they replaced my cat. So I'm going to check my heat shields.

And I'm just throwing this out there but $400.00 at the most ! That's so ridiculous the numbers they gave you. That really gets under my skin

You can get direct fit cats like magnaflow or walker for both sides for under $1000 and do it yourself or go to a muffler shop

They aren't and as a matter of fact nothing is as expensive as going to a dealer which is why online retailers are forcing them to lower their prices or to not even deal with them. You can get OEM parts from different sources
