Default Help cv axle trouble!

I have a 2004 f-150 truck with roughly an 8 inch lift all the way around with 22's and 37s. Me and my dad were down at Carolina Beach near Wilmington, North Carolina and decided to go ride in Freeman Park which is about a 2 mile stretch of beach for 4x4 vehicles to drive on. After riding for a while in the drier than normal sand I hit a pretty deep hole in the sand and heard the pop and almost immediately knew I blew out a CV. Getting out to look we found that the passenger side cv was done for. After about 3 hours of some hard work by 2 hard working army soldiers helping me dig and pulling me out with a chevy I was on the road, just without any type of 4x4.

After I got back to where we were staying for the week, I crawled under it to look and differential fluid was constantly dripping out of the end of the housing piece that extends from the differential to the passenger side axle, which is when I noticed a gap between the cv and the housing piece, (not sure of the name), but this is where the fluid was leaking from. I also noticed that I broke the passenger side steering stabilizer mount.

I drove it home yesterday and worked about 5 hours changing the cv axle and got up this morning to find fluid still leaking out of the same gap that I though had gone away but was back. Then I realized I hadn't put the spacer back in between the cv axle and the housing piece, which I have now put back in and I have also fixed the stabilizer mount. I took it to a big parking lot and put it in 4x4 high and works excellent and drives and rides great in 2 wheel drive of course. After riding around for a little while in 2 wheel drive though I seem to be hearing a whining sound as I am slowing down and sometimes I feel a vibration in the front end as I am accelerating from a dead stop and a roll and go. Can someone give me some advice as to what I can check next or is this something I should quit trying and let the "Pros" handle it kind of deal. Or is a new cv axle something that needs to get broken in? maybe a dumb question im no expert on these things, just like to fix stuff my self. Thanks for any help.

The lip on the XD Diesels are awesome...yeah I dont blame you..whats your lift composed of?? and were you going fast when you hit the hole or was it just the sudden drop off that broke it?

Yea man mine are 22x11. I was going maybe 10 mph and it just hit hard and I heard it brake. The lift is a 6 inch rancho with a 2 inch spacer "leveling kit" on top of it.

6" Rancho?? They make those? Must have been something from a long time ago then. Yeah I have a 6" BDS with a 1.5" spacer on top. Did you regear or still have the 3.73??

Oh nice..and you havent had any problems with the tranny with the 37's? you dont tow or haul do you??

Also, my grille is just a regular black billet upper and lower grille from Ebay. Then I got the FORD overlay made of steel from a member on here who makes them. 1999f1504x4 is his name. I then welded bolts on the back and painted it red to match my truck and then fastened it to the grille.

Would you hear more of a hissing noise if this was the case or no? I sometimes hear this at low speeds but my 2wd and 4wd engage and disengage no problem.
