Default What is this noise? *Video*

This happens under a load, or at higher speeds when it shifts into 3rd/ OD. I don't think it is transmission related because both the previous and my new transmissions it has made this noise. U-joint? Misfire? I don't know. Let me know what you think! The tires and exhaust are loud, but it's obvious the sound you hear that is different is the one of concern. Starts around 17 seconds.

Any way you can jack it up on a lift or jack stands and press the gas? It's really hard to tell from inside the cab...

Mine makes that noise at really low RPMs when cruising parking lots. It's either the bearing in the axle going bad or a loose skid plate. I'm hoping for the loose skid plate but I really don't want to get under there and find out for sure, because with my luck it'll be the entire transmission because reasons.

Not the skid plate in my case. I took the skid plate off yesterday and the noise is still persistent. It only happens when shifting into O/D (occasionally into third) and sounds like it is coming from under the dash. In the video it shifts into O/D around 17 seconds (you can hear the noise then), then downshifts, then goes back into O/D when the noise is heard again.

If it only happens when going into another gear (over drive) it is most probably transmission related, when you stated "new transmission" is it a rebuild? Sounds like it could be a torque converter.... I've dealt with a few transmissions but that sound is really strange, I'd still recommend jacking it up on a lift, put it in drive hit the gas and just listen to your transmission to hear whats going on, thats the only way you will be able to tell for sure.

That's from your truck being half-lifted. It's just your truck's way of saying, "please kill me, I can't stand people laughing at me all the time. "

Whole new unit. I bought a Ford transmission and had it dropped in, I really doubt that it is the transmission. I will take a ride with the guy that did the work on it just to make sure. Thanks for helping me troubleshoot.
