I have a 2004 F-150 crew cab Laria and bench front seatt with very low miles. Last night we finally got some comfortable weather here in TX so I pushed the "off" button on the dash to shut down the electronic automatic temperature control (EATC). When I turned it off the floorboard blower fan came on high and doesn't go off. It appears to be the heater and is on full blast. The dash shows nothing like it should but there is still activity going on. I guess I could just keep the EATC set to 72 all the time but I would like the ability to turn it off completely. Has anyone ever heard of this before?

ive got a similar issue. im getting ready to take my truck in for the fact that my heating/ ac doesnt want to come off head vents. i live in illinois and its not big feat to come out in the morning and the windows be frosted or fogged up and ill go to switch mine over to defrost and it still blows out of the head vents... dont know what to tell ya. after everything warms up to about a million degrees in my truck then it finally decides to switch over defrost.

My dealer said to bring it in and pay him $50 to diagnose the problem. I'm going to open the dash and unplug the unit first to see if that resets it for me.

I'm guessing the F150 has the same setup as the Mercury Mountaineer we had in that the automatic climate controled A/C and the heat are controled by a low voltage motor on top of the heater box. The motor opens and closes a door to regulate the temp. 2 things can happen to this little beauty. The motor dies and or the bellcrank breaks off the shaft that is connected to the temp door. On the Mercury you could get the motor changed without taking the heater box out but if the shaft broke away from the bellcrank you were kinda screwed. The dash had to come out. In my case it turned out to be the control head in the dash. A $700.00 part from Ford! I got one from LKQ a national salvage yard for $75.00.
