heater not working
My heater is blowing cold air. And its been -10 - -20 the past few days. I know this is a recent ponlem because when it was -40. A couple weeks ago I didn't have an issue with heat. Its an 04 Lariat SCrew. Any thoughts on what it might be?

Well... you have the ECC, right? If you do, you could have either a bad cabin temp sensor or even a thermostat stuck open. Does the temp of the truck reach the normal operating temp on the guage or does it stay low in the graph? If the temp is normal on the guage, I'd start looking at either the cabin temp sensor (cheap and easy) or even a bad ECC head (not so cheap but still easy).

Here's yet another reason I'm glad I have the good old "manual" control. Those ECC's can be pricy to replace if it ends up being the culprit.
Here's hoping it's just the simple temp prob sensor.

Cool. Thanks Lenn. I'll have to watch the temp gauge and I'll look from there. I sure hope its the easy on.
I agree Bucko. I've always hated the ECC. I wish I had the manual *****, and have constantly considered a swap, but have no idea where to start/im too cheap. Ha ha.
For what its worth, this has happened before. Last winter it did the same thing, then went back to normal the next day. You mentioning the thermostat sticking reminded me of that. Would that be more likely that its the thermostat?

So after driving home from work today I watched the temp gauge and it went to the exact same place it always does (right in the middle). So I guess I'll stop at a stealership and see if they have the cabin temp sensor and replace that. Unless there is an easy way to check out if the thermostat is stuck open? Then I'll do that first. ha ha.

Oh, i didn't realize the thermostat was regulating the temp of the truck. I thought it was something to do with the interior heating. I don't know much about trucks. lol.

LOL... yeah, sorry. The temp of the truck is what actually creates the hot air for the heat. If the engine is not getting to normal operating temp, you'll have reduced temp heat from the vents. If the OT of the truck reaches the normal level, the t-stat should be fine... should.

At -40 there is no difference to Fehrenheit, this is where they are the same, really really cold
-30 = -22 degrees F
-20 = -4
-10 = 14
Anyway good luck with the sensor, hope they fix it up for you.
