Headlights

Chive So Hard
The entire housing has to come apart. Start by baking the headlight to remove the lense. My method is to preheat the oven to 275, place one housing in the oven on a wooden board so the plastic doesnt touch the hot metal, close the oven door, cut the heat, wait 15 minutes, pull out, and gett to prying. You may have to repeat the process two or three times to get it to come out nicely and without warping the housings. Once the lense is removed, there is another two pieces that need to be seperated and they are easily screwed together so that part is an absolute breeze. What you should end up with is the housing with the headlamp bucket attached, the "faceplate" with the turn indicator bowl attached, and the lense. Do a little bit of reading up on how to properly mount up the projectors into the reflector bowl. This is also a really good time to put your own flair into the lights. Maybe change up the color, add some halos, spruce em up in anyway you see fit. Good luck

OK; I have a projector kit and will have to disassemble the headlight (remove the lens) . There is one post above, that describes the removal on a slightly later model.
Are there any more write ups or vids on this procedure? I have read a LOT of post that say this is VERY difficult to do, and the "heating" has to be pretty close or you can damage the light. To that note, there are several different temps and times given.
Not real excited about performing this mod.

Don't fergit to buy ye butyl, JB Weld, rubber end caps, etc. All available from TRS. Don't use RTV! It outgasses and will ruin ye lenses with an opaque coating. Any painting - let it DRY completely, then dry it some more. Again - outgassing is a killer.
Now - if'n ye cain't git 'er did a'fer all o' THAT info n' sich, time t' sell ye truck, hand in ye Man Card, and buy yeseff a bicycle ... lol.

Thanks for taking the time to post the info guys
I am using the minis, so I don't THINK I have to remove the reflector, so I believe I will just leave it chrome.
I have purchased the halos, and will run those along with possibly mounting a string of LEDs at the bottom while I have the lens off.
For anyone that has doe the Halos on these, did you use a dremel tool and grind away the spot where the halo wires contact the shroud? I don't like how it sits up where the wires make contact with the shroud.

That's a great video. I cant believe he runs the wires OUTSIDE the ring. I was going to cut a slot and run them through the shroud....
That will make it a lot easier

It depends upon the specific shroud and the headlight reflector bucket it's to be installed in. A lot of them occlude that wire's visibility without resorting to any cutting. A test-fit of yours will determine the best way to proceed.
O'course, mountin' 'em inside the shroud solves all of those sorts of issues, lol.
Good luck!

Is the butyl sealant in a tube or "rope"?
I went to Advance and NAPA and they didn't have a clue what I was talking about. (They even tried looking it up in the book, and no luck)
I am running the minis with the Apollos I believe.

However, I wouldn't recommend using that anymore. Use the Morimoto RetroRubber. It's made specifically for sealing headlights and holds them together much better.
