Not 100% sure, but I think this feature (auto headlights) require a light sensor (detects daylight/nighttime). This sensor is usually on the dash or behind the rear view mirror on most vehicles. Might want to check on this if you can find an F150 owner with this feature.
Can anyone verify that a light sensor is used?

they have told me that the light sensor is the one on the dash right infront of driver where the red led from the fake alarm is. my question is if i take off my headlight switch will the auto headlight switch just plug in?

Go get an auto switch, and try it. My guess is (haven't done it, but) that they both have the same plug on the back and the auto one has another wire that connects to the light sensor. If that's the case, the auto switch would behave just like your old one until you get the light sensor figured out. I can confirm that the light sensor is in that little black bump on the dash with the blinky red light. Covered with a hat, my lights turned on after a few seconds with the light switch on "auto". Note to those with HID's, I have read that leaving the lights on auto may prematurely wear out the bulbs by increased cycling on/off. Good luck

Yeah I too have the Auto Headlights and can confim that the light sensor is on the dash and that I have been told by a buddy of mine who works for ford as a mechanic that there is a diference in wiring between the two switches. It is not just plug and play there will need to be more modification done. Good luck and thanks for driving a FORD
