Default Headers question

Im going to be looking into getting some headers for my 05 5.4. Does any one have any experience with any in particular. Also what is the difference between shorty headers and the long tube ones. Which provides more hp. thanks for any help

Depends on if you are tuning or not and what your expectations are for gains after installing them

long tube headers are long, haha sorry, ok the long tube ones are the best performance but much more expensive and usually do away with the Cats.

I agree with what's been said above. But fyi don't purchase cheap header gaskets i like percy's. I have never had a header leak. Also, one more thing. Long tubes give you a little more torque the shorties are sometimes easier to install though.

ok thanks for the info ya, i am leaning on getting the shorties. dont think the long ones with doing away with the cats would work out too well for me. has anyone had any experience with pacesetter headers.

From what I have read just about everywhere, short tube headers will take away a lot of your torque. They reduce back pressure a lot and I have read that reducing back pressure will reduce your low end torque. Just may want to think about what you will be gaining/losing. I would really like to get a set of long tubes but I havent talked to anyone who has ran them so I dunno what kind of gains to expect.

i have them for sale in the"for sale" thread. They're pacesetter quiktrip longtubes. For a 97-03 5.4, they do get rid of the factory cats, but you can replace them with one good highflow just after the y-pipe.
