Hawk Brake Pads and Budget Brakes
So im looking for opinion and thoughts on both of these subjects. Ford Dealership wants $450 for resurfacing rotors, motorcraft pads, and labor for both axels. I can get the Hawk Ceramic pads for $150 and the guy at budget brakes told me he would turn my roters and install the pads for another $120. Should i stick with the OEM ford stuff or have Budget put on the better quality Hawk pads? Who has the Hawks and what do you think of them?

I forgot to ask if anyone has ever used Budget Brakes? It seems like a good shop, its clean and the guys were pretty cool when i was talking to them. But the old saying you pay for what you get has me a little worried.

I'd go with the Hawks, you should be OK with the Budget Brake guys, it's hard to screw up a basic brake job. Just make sure it works with no squeaks or vibrations/pulls when you drive away and make sure the parking brake works.

Thanks Gator....Those were my thoughts too. He said he would give me lifetime warranty on the labor and hes only a half mile from our house. Now im curious if I should go with the Ceramic or LTS pads. Did i remember you saying you had the LTS pads on yours?

Must be dreaming..... Well im thinking wiht the 20 inch rims and 305/55/20 duratracs which are heavy as hell! I'm going to go with the Ceramics, they should hold up better,

HAWK pads are great. When mine wear out I'll get the LTS on my truck. I had them on my '99 Tahoe and like them a lot. I also run HAWK on my BMW racecar.
As for ceramics and LTS I don't know much about the ceramics but usually the big difference is cold braking. Ceramics are known to be bad when cold, so you have to think about how much you really heat up your pads. Once very hot the ceramics are probably better, but if you're like me you don't really get your brakes that hot on normal driving. During towing it might be a different story, but like I said, you normally compromise cold braking.
What is a set of rotors run you? If you can, do the brake job yourself. It's one of the easiest DIY projects on a car/truck. After you've done it once you can easily do it within an hour the second time, and now you've learned something.
Remember to take care bedding the new brakes according to manufacturers specifications.
Good luck!
