Question Having some lighting problems.

I have a 2005 F150 with the center console shifter. The lights for the shifter have gone out and i haven't had time to look at the fuses yet. I was wondering if it was fuse or short in the wiring. Let me know if anyone has an idea. Thanks.

Default bulb out

open the center console, stick you finger in the hole, pull to the driverside and lift up at the same time, it'll pop open, then you can get to the 197 bulb... it goes in from the back and the bulb points toward the dash.

Mine went out as well, when i looked into it the fuse(if it has one) never popped and the bulb had melted the holder and the place it sits in under the clear plastic indicator so bad i had to replace them both by cutting the harness and rewiring in a bulb and harness. For lack of a console shift F150 I used a Focus door panel bulb and wires(looked right and almost fit perfect)I could not find a fuse for it in my owners manual.

It won't be the fuse, as the center console lights up with the other dash lights; if the fuse was blown, the other dash lights would be out as well. Ford did not use a seperate fuse for the center console shifter bulb only. It's wiring connector ties it into the dash lights. Since you did not mention that the other dash lights were also out, I'd go with the idea that the center console shift bulb is burned out, or loose, or a wiring fault with that bulb only.
