at first thought was rear axle or u joint but it got louder and sounds like up front--- also truck started to make weird nosiekida like metal on metal going around but not a grind very hard noise to explain did it three times all when stopping now after howl got louder it did while driving came to stop heard a clunk clunk ???????? is it somthing in front axle? cv? any help thanks
truck is a 2004 screw 5.4 4x4 thanks

I would try to engage 4x4 when you hear it to see if that has any affect on the noise.

Yup, sounds like the IWE Solenoid.

thanks will try also the howl is when i give it gas at a consistant cruise as soon as i take foot of gas stops and back on gas starts again

Wheel bearing... Pick up the front of the truck and wiggle the tires.

call me an idiot but what does iwe stand for? also try and ingage 4x4 when hear howl? or weird noise because the weird noise only last few seconds? thanks

IWE= Integrated Wheel End, it's the vacuum actuated autohubs on our trucks.
