Has anyone swapped a Coyote into an 05 yet?
The truck belongs to my dad and he's fairly ticked off at the ticking 5.4 (okay, bad pun). He's been through all the classic 5.4 woes, stuck open injectors, spark plugs, replaced cats, etc. Right now it seems to be running okay, but is making a ticking at idle, so I'm sure you know what that means.
From our research, it looks like the 5.0 is essentially a bolt in job and we can still use the stock 4 speed auto. Even with that pricey FR Control pack, its still in the 'affordable' realm. A friend of mine has done several Coyote swaps into various chassis (including an RX7) and gave me a general run down of what to expect. Honestly, it looks to be a fairly standard engine swap with no major hurdles, unless there's something I am just not aware of.
He doesn't have a preference on 'which' 5.0 to use, but I don't see any reason to spend more for the Mustang or Boss 5.0, I think the truck motor will work fine.
The truck is an 05' Lariat with the floor shift console, if that makes any difference.

I would see this as a good option to do to get rid of the 5.4 and pick up some more extra hp but I ain't doing this while I'm living here in Hawaii.. it would expensive as heck.. I'm waiting till I move to TX to look into this.

I haven't seen one dropped in the newer F150s yet, but think it would be awesome.
Get on ebay and get the engine/trans combo, having the 6=speed would make the computer part a little easier.

Ford Racing currently makes a control pack that enables the engine to run bolted up to the stock 4 speed auto, which can be controlled easily with a TCI controller. That's the path were looking at right now, but nothing is set in stone.
