has anyone seen a door entry keypad FAIL?
05 F150 Lariat 5.4L 140,000kms. I think my entry keypad has failed. has anyone see this before? My manual says pressing both buttons 7-8 and 9-0 (simultaneously) will lock the doors.
When I press JUST 7-8: i hear my door locks lock.
when i press a keypad button 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, or 7-8: every button in the keypad lights up (including 9-0 button).
when i press 9-0 nothing lights up.
My 5 digit code (as read from module behind back seat) actually REQUIRES the 7-8 button so as I enter my 5 digit code, as soon as I press the 7-8 button i hear my door locks lock. and then i have a digit 9... and when i have completely entered my code my door locks do not unlock.
has anyone see this before?
Thanks

Sorry to thread hop here, but speaking of the keypad, I bought my truck from an auction, and I don't have the entry code. Is there anyway to obtain it without having the dealer hook a computer up to the truck for 90 useless dollars? You mentioned something about the number on a module behind that back seat? What's that all about?

I'll agree with everyone else on this one. Sounds like a short somwhere. I would pull the door handle, and do some checking. id be willing to bet theres a circuit board that has a broken solder

it could be the switch has stuck for some reason , wear, water infiltration, who knows.
So it has gone from NO to NC mode, it is not a "short".
If you can get the keypad off, it's easier to replace it than diagnose it, chances are it is a sealed unit and there will be no way to clean the contacts or otherwise inspect the inner workings.

I just installed a factory keypad on my XLT, and it is a sealed unit (not cleanable). The cost for a new one is in the $40+ range at the dealer, or you can luck out and get one on E-Bay in the $20+/- range. It is easy to replace just clips into the door handle, with a couple of push pins holding a short harness in place. It also plugs in, right there in the door near the handle. And for FYI purposes, anyone interested in adding a keypad, all F-150's are prewired for it (I even checked a 2010 STX). Just get the code from behind the back seat on the security module, buy a handle with kepad, and plug it in. I use mine all the time.
