WTF do you need a gun for in your truck??? are you like a 18 year old single chick living in the south that drives the highways alone at night?

It's this simple; ask a police officer in your state what the laws and rules are for carrying a gun in your truck. I used to belong to a gun club, where we met often on weekends to shoot at the local gun stores/gun ranges to target shoot. We invited a local police officer to come to one of our meetings to talk about home security, carrying a weapon in a vehicle, and other related topics. This officer provided us with the laws pertaining to weopons in the state of Florida. He infomed us that you can carry a gun in a vehicle, as long as it follows the "two step" rule; it cannot be loaded, and would require the gun to be removed from a carrying case/locked box, unlocked (I.E. trigger lock, or outside lock on the box to open it). Then it would have to be loaded before it could be fired. Again, "two steps" to fire it.

If you were pulled over for some sort of traffic violation, you would immediately inform the officer that there is a weapon in the vehicle, but that it is "locked" and unloaded. At this point it is not considered a concielled weapon.

If you have a permit to carry a weapon, then these rules may be different, but in any case, you always want to inform a law officer that there is a weapon in the vehicle should you be pulled over. This is for your safty as well as the officers.

I think it's just common sense you'd inform the officer your carrying a weapon. I may not have any firearms, but I often carry knives on me and I learnt very quickly that you need to tell LEOs that you have one on you on in the vehicle.

No suprise coming from someone in California.

I have a CCW and my reasoning for having such a lock down box is for storing it when I cannot have it on me(federal buildings, schools, etc.) I can just put it in the glovebox etc but if someone were to break into my vehicle I have now provided a gun to a criminal. Not responsible gun ownership in my opinion.

Gun will be unloaded and yes I check local regulations before doing anything.

To the guy saying I need a long gun yes thats all well and good but its not always practical. I would have my shotgun behind the seat if the rear ones flipped forward however they dont. I tend to have a shotgun or rifle at any given time with me but again securing it becomes the problem.

Canadian guys asking why one would want a gun - Its pretty normal down here for people to have a concealed carry permit which allows a person to carry a concealed weapon. There are alot of whys as far as reasoning but mainly because police cannot be everywhere. Its a last resort and the fallout usually costs alot in legal fees but it beats the alternative(dead, robbed, or beat to ****)

So back on topic- I have seen a replacement center counsil box that features a lockable safe which is mass produced by a company. Does anybody know if they make something similar for under a seat or something of that nature?

I have no idea why this ridiculous topic is even on these boards.

It's about Ford trucks and not how to conceal weapons.

Try Google ... it's a search engine, you can't kill anything with it.

'GUN SAFE FOR TRUCK' netted 427,000 hits, I just tried it, surely you can find something in all that nonsense.

If you live in that much fear that you need to endanger other peoples lives with your justifications, ever consider simply moving?

wow talk about dense.

Look bud I posted this here to see if there was any FORD F150 SPECIFIC ideas on safes and or lock boxes. Yes i could have googled the **** out of it but most of the times a specific forum is the way to go. Much like coming here to ask about aftermarket headlights. I could search engine it but its all generic crap. Or I could come here and deal with people who actually know the truck and may have real world experience. This forum even gives me the specifics down to the group of people who own the same year truck as me and might be even of more help.

But instead I get a random jerk off telling me guns are scary and they make him feel icky.

FWIW there isnt a single thing wrong with a responsible gun owner such as myself. I follow every law that everybody else does. I dont live in fear but would rather be a little prepared in case anything ever happened. So if you want to roll around in your super fly Ford truck and someday get carjacked at gunpoint you think of me while you have your hands in the air and scream "Eeeeek"

And.....

As long as it's one of our rights to carry a gun, then there is no issue.

Respect the law, inform a law officer you have one in the vehicle, all is well.

Period.

Now, how about we talk about religion, or gays getting married; as long as they own a Ford truck, it's all game here.

Your figure is quite low.

It's estimated that there are between 250 and 300 million firearms in the US currently.

Last fiscal quarter there were, IIRC, 3.3 million recorded firearms sales that went through NICS alone.

Bingo. Back on Topic I got the link from another forum for a DU-HA shelf system that fits under the rear seat. That is the kind of product Im looking for in this cluster**** of a thread.

While you fumble about trying to load your precious handgun that's locked under the seat and try to load it with your pathetic shaking hands because mr. scary is jacking your ride and you're trying to defend yourself from the evils of society .... then in your blind panic shoot my wife or my child by accident and then listen to your fool a s s in court crying how sorry you are, you didn't mean it, you'd take it all back if you could.

Who's the jerk off?

Oh, and BUCKO ... one of your many, and repeatedly amended, constitutional rights was to own slaves ... still owning some slaves in your parts? No? Society has changed since 1787 when your bill was penned with your rights to shoot each other in the face .... perhaps you still have cotton fields out yonder ... dunno ... or don't you Nancy boy examples know how to use your fists anymore?

One last thing buck, can you show my how to make a shank out of my blue oval Ford grill badge ... since my inquiry has to deal with my Ford, and hey, you never know when I'm gonna need to do some stabbin.
