If they cut you a check for the repairs, I would definitely hire the paintless dent repair guy for a day or so and see what he can do and what you can live with. If he spent a couple days total on both vehicles, I don't know how much less it would be than to just go fix it. You might want to give it a month or so and see what works itself out and then call the paintless dent repair guy. Some of the small stuff should go a way just from the heat of the day and the cool nights. It will take a while though.

I bought a 02 FX4 brand new and received 2500.00 dollars in hail dmg before I even got the permanent plates on the thing. I was very upset to say the least. State Farm cut me a check for the dmgs and told me to find a body shop that would fix it for that amount. I deposited the check and 2yrs later when I bought my current FX4, the only noticeable dmg was the roof. The hail was golf ball size and the truck looked like crap. There was busted glass all over the parking lot. The hail came down for so long that it was stacked up 6 in. all over everything. Couldn't see any grass anywhere. Just to give you an idea about the dmg so you could compare it to what you received to your vehicles and maybe some idea about what will work itself out and what dmgs won't.

I'll have to check on that. I missed the call from the INS today after work, doh! So I have to call them tomorrow. Upon looking at it, the roof actually didn't seem to really take any hits.

Can those dents REALLY work themselves out? Sounds like you got hit a lot harder than I did. It feels like it was assaulted though.

I would hit the adjuster as soon as possible. Some of those dents on the rails and quarter panels are hard to see if not done fresh. But if you weren't hit as hard as I was, I would definitely pocket the cash and see what works itself out after a few months and then call the dent guy.

my truck got hit with golf ball sized hail last summer. got a check from the insurance and had a local body shop do the work for me. a lot of the ones on the fenders they were able to pop out without painting (which the insurance paid for), repainted the roof, and i ended up getting a Reflexxions Cowl Induction hood out of the deal. sucks to look at the truck when its all dented up, but hope you turn out on top like i did!

I have never seen hail before... and my truck was then caught in it. So all things considered I got off pretty lucky. Still sucks to see it covered in dents! Roof doesn't appear to have been as bad as I thought. The truck is just super dirty and the hail removed some dirt... still going to have them check it out.

I am going to talk to the shop ahead of time and see what they say. At the very least I am going to ask that he reduces the actual cost by the cost of the mirror and let me pocket that money so I can put tow mirrors on. I doubt I will be getting enough $$ for a new hood... but it is a nice thought. The insurance wants to get it looked at and estimated by the shop and they are going to send the adjuster to the shop.

For what it is worth, I wish it was as hard to see the dents as it was to photograph them. This blazing yellow looks hot in person, but is difficult to photograph. I had to wait till it was dark out and use high ISO with a longer exposure to get anything out. Daylight and the flash just would eat it up.

Seriously! WTF OHIO??!?!

Dropping the truck off Sunday night at the shop. I should hear Monday about the estimate. I dropped in to check out the shop yesterday and they had another car with hail damage they let me check out. They had all the spots circled with a grease pen. Some I was thinking "There isn't even a scratch there". $1300. So I am figuring I have maybe about $3k-3500 in damage. If that is the case... I am not going to bother getting it fixed. New parts instead

Replacing hood, truck lid, something on the roof, and at least one quarter panel. Labor + paint.

They said her car was the worst from the storm and they had done about 200!

It is the 3rd, and they are losing. Fail!
