Had it with Brake dust and now brakes are surging!

Your the first I've read complaining about stock pads and rotors that Ford uses. A complete brake job was done on my truck by Ford (right before I purchased it) with Ford parts (listed on receipt). I have a little over 10K on this brake job, with no complaints. Minimal brake dust, and no warping rotors, no pulsation in the pedal or steering wheel.
I don't race either; not even the "occasional Dodge"....
Brake pads are basically created two ways; a soft pad that provides your best braking, and minimal rotor wear, but creates the most dust. The second type of pad is harder (such as thos refered to as metallic, or semi metalllic); it produces less dust, but braking power is reduced, and rotor wear is increased.
I have no experience with the "ceramic" pads that are being sold as another option. The other two types I've used in the wifes BMW and a 90's Corvette.
Either you clean rims, or replace rotors more often (or buy the slotted/drilled as you did). I hope those resolve your problem; but for "normal" braking, the stock stuff works just fine.

Yea the original "Ford" branded pads are probably softer to meet all those gov't safety ratings... You most probably got the "Motocraft" branded pads installed when your dealer replaced them. Yes there is a differnece, and the Motocraft is substantialy cheaper . I had a coversation with the parts manager about this...
