Default h grille to honeycomb swap

Newbie question...

so I want the honeycomb grill and was curious if it was as simple as swapping the insert or do you need to replace the outer painted/chrome part too?

second, anyone have one for sale?!

The grill parts come in two boxes the center section and the surround, chrome or to be painted. You have to put the two together with some what of a struggle. To take the surround off the "H" grill will be a struggle that you might need a second set of hands for. I just changed the whole thing and used a chrome surround. My dealer charged 200.00 for both parts

It's easy. I've done this 3 times. You will remove the entire grill assembly from the hood by opening the hood, then removing the bolts that hold this assembly from the hood, plus the two outer support bars (one on each side).
You'll use a pair of plyers to twist (carefully) the tabs to allow the outer ring to come off of the "bar" grill. Then snap outer ring onto the honeycomb grill. then re-install the assembly back onto the hood.

I do have a honeycomb grill without the surround if your still interested, but I currantly have it listed on ebay. It's was just recently taken off my 2006 XLT, the tabs are all intact, just needs your surround.

Item number:150391765799

I checked out the ebay listing. Is the badge and mounting surface for the badge molded as part of the honeycomb grille? I couldn't tell from the pictures. I'm looking for a honeycomb w/o the badge so I can put a custom badge in it's place.

Thanks for looking, the grille is OEM and has the mounting pad for the badge molded as an integral part of it.

have any friends who are body men?

a replacement grille from Empire is 130 dollars for the honeycomb.

I'm swapping out my black honeycomb for a chrome frame H style, and my cost for the part is 79 bucks. The blue oval emblem is not included.
http://www.empireauto.us/ItemImages.aspx?ItemNo=F0561

and any factory or replacement part will have the mounting pad for the blue oval, unless you go for a custom type replacement

Sorry, I didn't answer your question thoroughly in my last post.
The actual Ford badge can be removed from grille, but the mounting pad is the integral part of the grille, You can put your custom badge in place of the Ford badge.
