Yeah I'd be interested in figuring this out as well, just got my 2008 crew and I dont see any rust showing through yet but would love to do anything to slow down any future rust. I am not sure what the pictures shoe either. Is the first of the sealed hole on your father's and second of the hole you drilled. Can you provide more info on where the hole is to be sealed and where exactly you drilled a hole.

Both pics are of my 2004 screw. The top pic is the hole that water gets into if you go to the back of your truck behind the cab stick your head in the rear tire fender well look forwards and slightly up you will see this engineering error, that's the hole that causes these trucks to rust. Fill that hole with sealer or something I think it will eliminate the rust issue. My dads 01 is factory sealed in that spot not sure why ford stopped sealing it there in 04 up. The second picture is a drain hole I made for water to exit. If you open your rear door follow were the door rubber seal would normally be follow it to the lowest spot it will start curving towards the rocker I put the hole there. I will get a better pic for you all. Basically put a hole as low as you can do water can get out I put the hole where I did so water would drain but with my rear door shut the hole wouldn't be visable but it would still drain

By hole, do you mean the crack/seam where the sheet metal comes together?

Yes the hole/gap right above the pinch weld seem. If I had a photoshop program on my iPhone id circle it. Follow that seem upwards see how the metal shoots off to the right? See that hole looks kinda like a triangle?
