If I do this I can't use those and have to either buy a tune from the website or use whatever is on the software right? I'm sorry if I keep asking the same questions.

Yes, I bought each( 3 separate Tunes) from PHP and since I bought the Gryphon through them I got a break on the Custom Tunes. You have to buy what I have via PHP and no, not everyone can use them. When you order Custom Tunes from PHP you have to hookup the programmer to your vehicle and the Gryphon will show a certain Hex Code(an alphabet letter or two and a series of numbers). Once you get that Hex Code you have to contact PHP to give them that Hex Code and inturn they write the Custom Tunes for that specific Hex Code and the new Custom Tunes will NOT work on any other vehicle but yours. And yes, it was tested a few months ago, I put a new ECM in my truck and my Custom Tunes at that time would NOT work with the new ECM. So I contacted PHP and had to get a "Hex Code Change", basically just replaced the Hex Code in my Tunes with the new Hex Code.

And correct again, you have two choices. Use what their canned tunes are that you already have OR order Custom Tunes from PHP. IF there is another choice, I don't know what it is. And no, you don't have to buy 3 Tunes, you can buy 1, 2 or 3 at a time. Whatever you want to play with.

Go to the PHP site, everything I have told you is on their site for all to see(at least it used to be before they re-did their entire site, not sure about it now). If you have questions, call them and speak to them directly. VERY easy people to deal with in my experience.

OK that makes sense about the HEX code. that is pretty sweet actually, my own special tune for just my truck! how long does it usually take to get the tunes from PHP? also about the tunes that already come with it, are they the same or better than what edge had on theirs?

For me the timeframe has varied but I have only had to deal with them twice to take that into consideration. The first time for my 3 Custom Tunes took less than 2 weeks. When I had to have the Hex Code changed it took over a month and closer to two months. I assume it really depends on their workload at the time.

Again, I have no idea if they are better than Edge Tunes or not cause I have never had an Edge Programmer and also have never ran the Gryphon with Canned Tunes so I have no idea on the comparison there either.

Im sorry if this was already answered and i missed it, but am i correct the difference between the canned tunes edge puts on it from them and the gryphon, is that the gryphon focuses more on the torque? Is this the only difference?

It's definitely a better tune overall. Edge wasnt bad, but with 2 4 wheelers in the back, when i want to go up a hill, barely push the gas and it will down shift like i want it too and go on up! Same with cruise. I was getting 14.5-15mpg pulling two 4 wheelers at 60-80mph down hills LMAO. The power is definitely there

No the conversion is free. Just download the software from the website and plug it in and watch the magic happen. $40 is for custom tunes you can buy for your specific truck. You will need the HEX Code to do this and the S/N of your device and your vin as well.
