Personally I would not replace the phasers unless they needed to be replaced. It can be done by a DIYer who has some experience under the hood, but it's not exactly a quick and easy job.

Supposedly the new phasers are updated in design. But like I said, I would not bother with them until they become a problem.

Now that you are educated in potental problems, keep in mind when you are shopping so you know what to look for. Take car of it, and If there ever is a problem, which may never come up, use your research to correct it.
