Just to add a little to this, I am a chevy man through and through! I used to drive an 04 2500 4x4. It was a good truck bit with only 46000 miles on it the knock sensors went along with fuel injector after fuel injector, that's after replacing the fuel pump and filter after the first time that happened. Don't een let me get started on the front wheel bearings! I finally sold it with 120000 miles on it and drove a 91 chevy around for 2 years with 220000 miles on it and it's still running! But that's not saying the 91 is reliable with it's 3rd tranny 2nd rear end and new front wheel bearings. By the way the first tranny on it quit at 76000 miles! I now own an 04 fx4 screw that needs new plugs (headache) and the cam phazers need replacing and it's got 98000 miles on it! Just goes to show you nothing ever last as long as it should or works perfectly all the time! But for a chevy guy I do love my blue oval!!

If you are doing it to save money on repairs, the cost of trading in or selling your truck outright and then getting another, likely newer truck cant be of any financial savings, in fact will make your $400 cost nothing in comparison....having one vehicle problem under warranty to me doesnt justify selling a vehicle....but again, if you are just tired of your truck and looking for a change, then by all means enjoy life and get whatever you want....
My truck will sell anywhere from $26K-$28K and I am looking at just getting a nice 2WD that is a couple years old. My truck has every option imaginable and that is just more to break. I guess it is just a plan to simplify things, I don't need a monster 4WD in South Florida and if I can make a few grand and get something that has at the very least a lessor chance of breakdown ( if nothing else then due to the fact it has less on it to break ) that seems like a smart move.

Also dealers are going to be hurting come Nov. or Dec. when no one has bought a new car in 2 months because everyone bought one during the clunker period.... wait two months before you buy and you will get a way better negotiating position.

lol, yeah, with all the cash to dealer, cash to customer, etc. that they have going on it is almost not even worth looking at used ones.

I agree with you that less to break should be less expensive, but I have done that before and missed my leather, moonroof, etc. Thought I wouldnt but I did. Everybody is different.

December is always horrible even in a good economy, should be able to steal one this year.

Yeah, I have seat covers over my leather and haven't open the sunroof but once. I also miss my center seat, the regency shifter is cool but nothing better then your girl in the middle and dog looking out the passenger side window.

I have been customizing cars since I was 12 with my dad and I carried that in to adult hood. yea i hear ya. i just amuses me when the ford garage personnel who are supposedly trained and qualified to repair and service your vehicle don't even know what the hell stuff is and then try to BS the public. yea i have been wrenching on stuff with dad since i could hold a ratchet, i still have the socket set my mom and dad bought me for my 10th birthday, lol. yea i never got into rebuilding engines, too much cash tied up on stuff you rarely use, good thing i got a cheap engine guy, lol

The new caterpillar motorgraders have 11 ECM's! (computers). As a technician that has to work on them that is just crazy. We cannot get trained fast enough to keep up with the techology. They have so many sensors and switch's it would make you sick.
