From all I've read, sounds like the IWE solenoid could be the problem...
I had the same issue. When the dealership replaced my cam phasers a few weeks ago, I asked them to inspect the grinding issue. They said everything looked fine. I haven't heard the grinding since, and that's after tropical storm Ida has passed through. So maybe in their process of replacing the cam phasers and inspecting the 4x4 areas, they accidentally fixed whatever the problem was...
