I'm running the black cover on the front of mine right now. He recommends using construction grade glue such as liquid nails to glue it over the old emblem. It looks really clean on the front of there. I need to get one for the back so they match. I tried to remove the front emblem for ease of gluing couldn't get it off due to the clips in the grill. I pried at it and quit when I thought it was going to break and just glued the cover on while it was on the grill.

I am considering emblem covers such as this:

Anyone had any luck with these looking good once installed or should I just replace them with new ones? Don't want them to look bad so it's all about proper fitment on a cover like this.

yes front one can either be 3m taped or bolted, super easy to remove. rear, heat with hairdryer till warm but not too hot. it gets adhesive warm and soft. Use a small screw driver or plastic putty knife and lift corner , working it till it starts lifting. make sure you put something soft underneath whatever tool you use to protect paint. Pop it off. To get a remainder of tape / adhesive off I used an autobody "majic eraser?", its a large eraser wheel that you put on end of drill. Costs like 10 bucks. Takes only a few minutes and doesn't wreck the paint. Last time I used my fingers and had blisters for weeks!

hey no offense taken, just offering a nice alternative. To me they look outstanding and better than any paint job I could do let alone the time it takes to tape it all off and paint it I'd rather pay the $45. Especially if you waste your $15 and it doesn't turn out.

Indeed. You have a point. Do you know if they are as easily damaged as the OEM parts? Almost every 04-08 truck I see has tarnished or faded emblems. [MENTION=115332]Moremoney[/MENTION]

I'm hoping mine holds up! I'll wax it everytime I wax the truck so that should help. The problems with the OEM ones is that they had a plastic covering that once it got a chip it was done. Watched mine slowly do it.

I ordered one of EBay and got it in today. I easily took off the old part, but unfortunately the $20 was spent on cheap stuff. The whole front emblem fell off!! I superglued it but its terrible. Gah
