Granatelli motorsports cold air causing failsafe mode?
So i bought and installed a cold air intake on 05 f150 im not sure how familiar any of you are but you get a wire bundled box the tricks your computer or maf into richining the air fuel ratio . Anyway when i installed the cold air my truck when into engine failsafe mode i unplugged the extra harness and it runs to lean giving an engine code leftbank /rightbank to lean . I guess what im asking if theres other who installed the gms cold airintake did you have issues and if so how did u fix them ? Thanks

I've never bought anything from Granatelli for my truck, but two of the three items I bought for my mustang from them crapped out on me. They were good about sending out replacements, but I eventually got tired of replacing (COPs) them and sold them on ebay with a disclaimer that they were crap.

Thanks i feel like if i buy another cold air ill have the same issue running to lean .. I means there isnt to much to the set up and if anything the one i have on my truck looks better then most that you can buy on the market i just hate to keep throwing 300 here and there when i have an old pony car id much rather be throwin money into!

These trucks are very sensitive to intake changes. Take off the intake and do the gotts mod. CAI without proper custom tuning (a resistor that tricks your MAF is not enough) can cause your truck to run lean eventually destroying your motor.

Do a search on here for Gotts. But yeah sell the expensive tube you just bought. Gotts basically opens up the tube where it goes in the fender. The 04 and I believe some 05 trucks run on the lean side stock so adding a CAI without tuning for it can cause problems. Gotts mod can be done for around $10.
