On the dash. Since it is not a "permanent" fixture, I place it on the dash when I use it, then into it's case when it's not needed. In my opinion, if it's not a factory GPS installed within the radio location, it's asking to be stolen anywhere else.
This will be a good post though, to see how others did a permanent mount for aftermarket GPS units (EXCLUDING radio type GPS units).

i just plug it in, and stick it in a cup holder...i dont like having something else to clutter up the dash/windshield..on the interior im about keeping it simple

i have mine on the left of the steering wheel on the flat part of the dash. its the best place to put it in my opinion since its illegal in california to have it on your windshield.

I hard wired mine in. I like mine in the top left hand corner of the window. I ran the wire up the A pillar and just out the top corner. Its out of the way when i need it to be, but just a quick glance away and within reach if needed to input info at a stop. I like this also because I have bluetooth with mine and it makes it quick and easy to hit the 'answer' button, instead of reaching across to the middle of the dash.
