Yeah, i wish i could trade my k&n for a stock setup. It came with my truck but it just sucks in hot engine bay air. I cant understand why it has that little box setup on it. To divert the hot air? Looks like it wouldnt have been too hard for k & n to make the box correctly and use the original plumbing hole in the fender.

Now i have to figure out how to clean/oil that thing. Youtube here i come.....

Why not just do the easy DVM/GOTTS.

Smooth fast and unimpeded flow from a cool source is what you want. Those expensive CAI that draw warm air form under the hood instead of the cooler fender air are such a waste of money.

lolwut?

Corrugated pipe "disrupting airflow" -- you're literally replacing a 2" throat with a 3" piece of duct. There's no "airflow disruption" and there's never been any "gains" to be noted from a GOTTS mod in the real world in the first place.

Any "gains" you're feeling or seeing are very likely placebo or a result of something else happening in the system that opening up the restrictive 2" space is assisting with.

The stock setup provides more air than the engine even uses, regardless.

I did the Gotts mod. It is easy to do. I did not notice any extra noise from the bigger pipe. I have heard that some of the flexible pipes that some people have used crushed during WOT driving. This is what I did... https://www.f150forum.com/f4/gotts-i...33219/index32/

Ahh yes. The GOTTS mod.

Some say it helps. Some say it doesn't.

These people should post proof and finally put the fact or myth to bed.

The Spectre pipe isn't really something you can crush (nor has it crushed, it's made for duct work used in automobile applications) with just an intake amount of vacuum.

It's wire wound around a hard polymer. I've been running it for almost five months now and I'm pretty much WOT 50% of my driving, because I'm an ahole and do a lot of high speed merging onto the outerbelt.

I did the Gotts mod on my old 2002. Didn't notice *any* difference. Already had a K&N though.

If you go the CAI route, you might as well go full boat and get a tuner and exhaust. Those three mods work in conjunction to unlock a lot more magic from the restricted 5.4L.

Unknown if it's allowed here, but someone did post real world.

Exactly what I did. Now in conjunction with an exhaust that can breathe out easier, and a tuner, the engine breathing in easier feels natural to me.
