Default Got my new sound system installed......

So I've owned this truck for 5 years now.....and I LOVE IT!!!!! But, the stock stereo and speakers left allot to be desired. The bigest thing for me is the toughest to explain. It seemed to me that when a bass note would hit that the system would cut out the highs, and vice versa. Anyone I asked claimed they couldn't hear it.....weird to me as it was obvious.

The other thing was that it had a single disc in dash with a tape deck. Yes. A tape deck. In a 2004. BUT........I still had a tape adapter in my storage unit that I used to use back in the day (yes, I'm old) for my portable CD players, back before you could buy a radio with a CD player vice tape deck. So that's what I used for my iPod/iPhone......

But seeing as I have a 3,000+ mile trip across the country (VA to CA), I figured it was time to upgrade and get something with satellite radio.

I didn't want nav, as I love having my TomTom up on the windshield so I don't have to look down. And that lowered the price ranges allot. But wanting the cable hidden and where I wanted it vice coming out the front raised the price a little.

I also wanted to replace the stock speakers as they suck. As I'm in a temporary living situation as I'm moving across the country in a couple weeks I couldn't do the install myself as I would normally do. Ended up going with some Fosgate 5x7's front and rear.

Needed a back up camera as I'll be towing a trailer, and I'll be by myself and I won't be able to position the truck on my own without it. Or lift the tongue of the trailer on my own to move it into position.

The screen quality is amazing! Seriously. I haven't watched a regular DVD since the PS3 came out, so I wasn't expecting regular DVD quality with a car radio display to be so crisp. This pic obviously doesn't do it justice.

Ended up going with the full Sirius package; already found my fav station:

Supposedly I can use apps like Pandora through the head unit when my iPhone is plugged in.....as well as watch Youtube or any vids/pics/movies I have on it, but I haven't played around with that yet.

All in all I'm perfectly happy with it. I love new toys!!!!!!!!

What model number is that Pioneer? I've been looking at the 3200BT for awhile now, but I love the size if your screen.

Great system! I find the backup cam is a life saver! My trailer toung is way to heavy to lift and I hate having to go forward and back 6 times to line it up! Makes me feel bad for my transmission :p

Have s safe road trip/move!

It's the AVH-P4300DVD as Adam stated:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...s/AVH-P4300DVD

I paid 530 for it; and that was through a local/independant aftermarket stereo/alarm place. So I'm sure you can find it cheaper online.......

Did you do the parking brake bypass? I got the same headunit, haven't messed with it much. Did the parking brake bypass.

What backup cam did you go with and how is the quality?

I'd have to look at the box again for brand name; it's triple sealed and the resolution is amazing!

And yes; I was 'watching' Captain America while driving last night.....

......I stopped it after 5 minutes, wayyyy too distracting!
