My caliper covers still look like new when I clean them. No chips or fading. I've since then replaced rotors and brake pads with the ebc yellow stuff brake pads and the caliper covers do a great job covering the yellow pads. I've also had no negative remarks , only positive since I got them over a year ago.

And I only had $40.00 invested. More coin for other mods.
I agree. I painted the calipers on my Ram 1500 Hemi with high temp Hemi orange paint. As with all of my DIY instructions, prep is the key. I sprayed non-chlorinated brake cleaner, scrubbed it all down further with a wire brush and a scouring pad, sprayed on high temp etch primer, sanded down the primer and finally sprayed three medium coats. That was 4 years ago, and the finish looks just as well now as it did back then. I remember it took me an entire afternoon and cost me less than $50.

Also, i agree with all of you except for the lazy part. I work 12 hr shifts , five days sometimes 6 a week so spending my weekend painting them is not going to happen. But, if I had the time, i would of painted them . Also, I do think that the original price of $230.00 is high, I think 125.00-$150.00 would be descent price. But overall for $189.00, im happy w the product , I like the way they look and would recommend them to anyone who is interested.
I work 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. That's probably why I still haven't settled down. No chick wants to stick around a guy who's married to the career. I congratulate you on your achievement and if you're proud of it then it doesn't matter what any one of us thinks. Overall I don't like the look of a caliper cover as a properly painted caliper to me looks better.

Not really. If you have the money powder coating is really the way to go. I didn't use VHT products. Some of Duplicolor's products are pretty good, but a lot of it is crap. I have found that all of their high temperature coatings are absolute garbage. I use DuPont etch primer on the bare calipers after they have been prepped. After prepping the etch primer I use a custom Hemi orange by Cerakote. As I mentioned, to this very day the calipers look just like they did when I first painted them.

I got them for my 06 Lariat and in black, and yeah they arent cheap, but you get what you pay for. The only thing I did was went out and got some stainless steel nuts to use on them. For some reason the hardware thats attached to the piece is stainless, but the nuts they give you arent. I didnt want any rust issues.

$180 for some plastic covers....I would expect them to hold up to nuclear war.

And you installed them without even taking the wheels off? Wheel removal is just too hard these days?

First off they aren't plastic. They are metal and how are these any different than half the other mods that people do. Just because its easy doesn't mean its crap. Most guys on here with dual exit exhaust out the back are running through a single muffler. So is that crappy too. But then again you know what they say about opinions.

I paid $20 for the dupli-color red caliper paint kit that came with everything I needed to paint my calipers red. Put the truck up on blocks and painted them. It's almost been a year and there is no sign of chipping at all. They get dirty from all the dust, but as soon as you wipe them down, they are brand new again. I did this before I got my 35s put on....

The caliper covers are a waste of money IMO. Not saying that yours doesn't look good, the difference between the 2 isn't worth $160 though.
