"plus imagine how pissed off a thief would be while trying to outrun the cops "

I like that idea. Of course there will no doubt be someone in here claiming that they need to be able to go over 80mph for some safety reason. (outrunning rabid skunks? jealous girlfriend?)

Just to reassure the more safety first ppl... My wife functions as a governor override override. So alot of the time doesn't matter what the truck can or can't do anyhow. Tried to fix that problem but the duct tape keeps coming off lol.

I regularly go over 80 when passing on two lane highways here in Nevada...it would be a safety hazard not to be able to in some situations IMO.

And the speed limit is what?

The safety issue is people trying to run their 5600 LB F-150 like it's a sports car.

But when they are electronically limited to 96-ish? You don't need more than that really... IMO just because everybody else is going 85 in a 70 doesn't mean you need to. Especially because of the size and weight of the truck.

Now if you were in some sports car that was developed to go that fast, sure, whatever. It isn't as unsafe (still not particularly safe on public roads, and illegal for sure) but better than doing it in an F-150.

the speed limit on a lot of our two lane highways is 70 mph....and in some cases...in order to pass semi trucks, cattle trucks etc....it requires going above 80 to safely get around them before the next bend. I never questioned the safety issue with racing a 4x4 pickup truck....I was simply rebutting the fact that some people say its not necessary to go above 80 mph...which, where Im from, is not true. People tend to forget about the fact that there is a threshold where having too little power or available speed that can make sitatuations dagerous as well. Having a capable vehicle is a very important part of being a successful defensive driver.
